2018 #UMEPP Field Season Was a Rousing Success! Fossils, Fossils everywhere!

We spent many days (two weeks to be exact) in the field this summer, collecting, collecting, investigating, learning, and collecting some more.

In the end, we collected hundreds of specimens like turtles…

…mammal jaws…

…and parts of skeletons like this complete mammal foot…

In the end, we collected literally hundreds of fossil specimens, in addition to samples of fossil soils (paleosols) and the teeth of modern mammals, large and small, all as part of our long term study.

Keep watching this space as we now move into the second phase of this project: the lab.
